Ages of the Gods

The powers of the cosmos turn about one another like the swirling stars of a galaxy, slowly orbiting the inevitable extirpation of the super massive black hole. Powers wax and wane in a perpetual cycle as the great powers of the gods gain hold for a time and their dominion holds sway. Each god rules for an age while their purview, their domain takes on a greater power, greater even than themselves. During the age of Phul the goddess of decay, great empires fell, the world diminished and fell into comparative barbarism. A few bastions of greatness, of what once was, remain such as Waterdeep, Great Thay and the empire of Azoun IV in Cormyr. The ages vary greatly in length and intensity. The thousand year reign of Phul crept along almost imperceptibly. The age of Bhelu the god of destruction lasted but thirty three years but saw the rise of the undead armies of Nagash and the destruction of half of the cities of the north western realms. Even mighty Waterdeep was sieged for three days and a large portion of the east ward was destroyed. The Zhentarim raised a great army and laid waste to a great portion of the dale lands only to be met by the army of Cormyr in the battle of Shadow Gap and defeated.

There is a certain prophecy in the texts of the faithful of Orcus, the prince of the undead that goes as follows…but an excerpt…

"Following decay and destruction comes the age of the once living,

The dominion of our lord dressed in red.

From far away through time and space he has come from the ending to the beginning,

A falling star, he ushers in the age of the once dead."

The ages of the various gods are well known to the more learned sages being carefully plotted by astrologers. It is believed that Orcus follows Phul and Bhelu with an age of nightmares that will be heralded by a falling star. Many eyes watch the heavens in trepidation for no one knows what terrors the age of the Prince of the Unliving will bring.

[BEHIND THE SCENES] (Information given in the "behind the scenes" sections is not known to your characters. Rest assured that there are many other secrets yet unrevealed. *cough*cough {secret mind flayer plot to blot out the sun} *cough*cough

Kas is the falling star that ushered in the age of Orcus. Even now Kas is meeting with Szass Tam, the Arch-Mage of Necromancy in Thay and in every way the modern successor to Vecna's legacy. With their combined power and the exponential increase in the powers of the undead, they will surely gain dominion and unite the powers of Thay again under one banner. Nothing good will come of this… [BEHIND THE SCENES]

144 Days Left 'till DragonCon

DragonCon is the ultimate scifi/anime/fantasy/gamer Con of all time. Seriously, the minute it is over I am in withdrawal for like a month and I look forward to it all year. The Sheraton still has rooms left at roughly $150 a night! So far the head count is Jon, Dewey & Carrie, and myself. You need to go also!
