Halloween Game Night Sunday OCT 29th

Every few years when D&D night falls close to Halloween I have a special Halloween game. Sunday after next is the mega spooky night of creeping death, D&D style. The adventure begins in Silverymoon on a stormy night this week (10/22) and continues with the ever so very scarry climax on 10/29. Obviously I won't be turning people away at the door but I really would like everyone to be dressed in costume. You can be whatever but in years past it was cool when people came as their character. Your costume doesn't have to be store bought to be cool. The 29th will have some extra live action parts and prizes to win! Feel free to bring a spouse or girlfriend (in costume, of course) to meet the crew and take part in some of the festivities.

3.5 Conversion

I am now officially converted to v3.5 Over the next few weeks you should consider picking up a 3.5 players handbook as we are switching to 3.5 in the near future. I got all three 3.5 books for around 20$ each shipped from www.half.com Make sure you don't order from someone in Florida or you will have to pay sales tax. You can find them cheaper if you are ok with used books and you can sometimes get them dirt cheap on eBay if you get lucky on an auction.

Untitled

Ye never know what ye will find when accompanying an adventuring band. It has its most boring points; endless walking through deserts, forests, and swamps, with Thieves lurking at every bend in the road. Thank the gods that the "Oh Shit" points are few and far between. You encounter monsters with low numeric saving throws; wizards that no matter what ye throw at him, he saves. Then finally at the end of the adventure when you've fought demons, monsters, and undead that refuse to be turned, you return to your local friendly brawling thief ridden bar with the big two hundred gold pieces you managed to get away with and the two hundred and twenty-three experience points it took four hours to achieve. Ye wonder if it's worth it... Uh? ___by Tamar (circa 1984)

The Necromancer

I. Into The Darkness

"As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, the three travelers, men of Willowdale, emerge from the forest shadow. Fording the River Dawn, they turn south, journeying into the dark and forbidding lands of the Necromancer.Even now the intensity of his dread power can be felt, weakening the body and saddening the heart.Ultimately they will become empty, mindless spectres; stripped of will and soul, only their thirst for freedom gives them hunger for vengeance..."

Silence shrouds the forest
As the birds announce the dawn
Three trav'llers ford the river
And southward journey on
The road is lined with peril
The air is charged with fear
The shadow of his nearness
Weighs like iron tears

II. Under the Shadow

"Shreds of black cloud loom in overcast skies. The Necromancer keeps watch with his magic prism eyes. He views all his lands and is already aware of the three helpless invaders trapped in his lair..."

Brooding in the tower
Watching o'er his land
Holding ev'ry creature
Helplessly they stand
Gaze into his prisms
Knowing they are near
Lead them to the dungeons
Spectres numb with fear
They bow defeated

III. Return of the Prince

"Enter the Champion.Prince By-Tor appears to battle for freedom from chains of long years. The spell has been broken; the Dark Lands are bright. The Wraith of the Necromancer soars away in the night."

Stealthily attacking
By-Tor slays his foe
The men are free to run now
From labyrinths below
The Wraith of Necromancer
Shadows through the sky
Another land to darken
With evil prism eye.

Naggashh will break free from the prison of death.
The armies of the dead once again will mass,

Waterdeep

The city of Waterdeep is vast. It is a port city that lies on the Sword Coast. The Sea of Swords laps against its docks. This region of the planet is sub-tropical. Long humid summers give way to brief winters that never get too cold. The docks bring trade by way of Calisham and the Elven isles. Great caravans come from all over bringing wonders for sale or trade. The city is ruled by a secret council of lords. Their laws are enforced by a large police force with access to considerable magics. Waterdeep is a city like no other in the realms. Sites that are oddities or beings that would cause riots and disaster in other cities are common or simply overlooked. There are two Liches, in example, who reside within the city walls. Drow walk the streets by night beside humans and dwarves. There are hundreds of bars and taverns, thousands of shops, and all manner of items for sale. Anything can be bought in Waterdeep if you know who to ask.
The city is separated into wards. There is the Sea Ward/Dock Ward encompassing the docks, warehouses and numerous business and pubs that cater to the seafarers. The North Ward is where the nobles and people of wealth live. The Castle Ward holds the castle of the honorary king of Waterdeep and the various royal families and courtiers. The Trades Ward is where you find the industry in Waterdeep. The Southern Ward contains the middle class and poor families plus many business, pubs, inns, and shops. The City of the Dead is the largest known graveyard in all of Oerth. Tremendously powerful magics have seen to it that this graveyard will never be full no matter how many graves are dug, how many mausoleums raised from the rock of the earth.
In the weeks since the cataclysmic relocation of the party the characters have gained several contacts in the city that they can rely on to provide them with lucrative contracts. First is Pontus Corrilius a wealthy merchant from the North Ward. He is an information seller and an acquirer of items for the rich and powerful. He has traded fairly, as far as you know, with you in the past but only a fool would trust one such as he. Second there is Aayan, One Eye. An enigmatic rogue that pops up on occasion with some bit of adventuring and reward. And then there is Fagan Andercraft master of a thief’s guild called Midnight Appropriations. He is rumored to be a vampyre and his appearance makes it seem obvious that that is the case. His guild is terribly powerful and your contact with him is invaluable due to his ties to organized crime. Lastly is The Magic Mouth Man arch-mage and identifier of items. His true name is not known to you nor is his personal appearance. All contact with him has been through magic mouths floating in the air.
Many of you have taken up residence in The Dead Thief Inn. An interesting establishment of gambling, fine foods and posh accomodations. You have scouted out some lower profile establishments that offer work to adventurers such as The Cracked Crown in North Ward and The Howling Banshee in South Ward.
There is alot of talk about a recent war and a portion of the city is being reconstructed after Waterdeep itself was sieged by the undead host of Naggashh. You have seen the devastation first hand near the outer wall and East Gate. Rumors range from elation over the defeat of Naggashh to possibilities of his inevitable return. Some things never change. Some powerful evil wizard or another is always trying to take over the world.

Game On Sunday 6/18

We are playing the high level party this Sunday as the adventure continues from last week. Game time is 5:30pm. I hope everyone can attend.

Aftermath

(Below is the opening segment from this week’s adventure. The artifacts explosion thrust the party forward in time. You have come nearly seven thousand years into the future. It is now present day realms 1372 D.R. The party awakened in a broken room in the temple of death on the street of temples in Waterdeep.)

You follow Selber through the quiet streets of Thayonestia in the late evening. It is early summer but a cool breeze is blowing and it is a clear starry night. Selber is gripping the great silver sword in both hands and there is a maniacal look in his eyes. He resists all efforts to deter him from what ever course it is that he is taking. You have to rush to keep up this pace. Luckily it is late because striding boldly through town brandishing a huge glowing great sword is frowned upon by the law keepers. The few citizens that you do encounter quickly find that their business takes them in an opposite direction. Selber leads you to the huge temple complex of the cult of blood where you are immediately met by several men at arms who interpose themselves between you and the main entrance. From somewhere in the vicinity an alarm bell is being sounded. Selber shouts out a single word that incinerates one of the guards. In a flurry of blows he beheads two others. There is one pale looking guard left who is turning to run. Selber waves the sword above his head and the tip of his blade leaves a trail of magical energy that looks like a large magical spear. With his free hand he gestures and the spear quickly skewers the fleeing man through the back. It is just about now that red wizards start to pop into existence here and there about the courtyard. Magical energies flicker and flair and the drain on the weave creates an immense vortex like a cosmic black hole or so it would appear to one who was attuned to such things. In seconds the courtyard now contains a half dozen assorted wizards and sorcerers, a cleric of Belial, a beholder and a twenty foot tall winged devil with a flaming sword. Just when it seems like violence will surely erupt you hear a deafening voice that seems to come from everywhere and it shouts one simple word, “HOLD.” For a startled second all parties pause and look about. Immediately before you an ancient man in red robes and a huge humanoid in full plate materialize. The man in red robes has a short neatly trimmed white beard and a golden circlet with three rubies that glow brightly. Seven colored stones orbit haphazardly around his head. His red robes glisten as if wet and are almost completely covered in fine golden glowing runes. He holds a short scepter made of gold that is encrusted with cut glowing rubies that form a myriad of runes. A huge diamond the size of your fist tops the scepter. His right hand and the left side of his face are covered with red tattoos that are comprised of magical writing and symbols. He wears an onyx and diamond broach on his right breast and electrum bracers can be seen beneath his sleeves. A thin red mist like aura covers him and everything within five feet of him. This is Vecna in the flesh. The man in full plate is completely encased in white metal armor. The white metal crackles with blue sparks of electricity. The individual plates of the armor each depict either some sort of demonic visage or are covered with magical runes. The faces are all animated and they quietly speak among themselves in a language that has been dead for a thousand years. His high spiked helm is covered with magical runes. He holds in his right hand an adamantium great sword with red runes down the center of the blade. It has large glowing rubies in the quillions and pommel. His left hand cannot be seen through the melon sized ball of crackling blue energy. Vecna says to the red robed ones amongst you, “what is the meaning of this?” Without a word Selber strides boldly forward and kneels before Kas holding up the great sword as if in offering. Kas immediately drops the sword he was holding to the ground and the magic from his hand drains away as he grips either side of his head as if struggling against some unseen force. The ancient sword held by Selber fairs up emitting light so bright that it is impossible to look at it directly. Vecna attempts to counter the magic and one by one his spells are swatted away by the power of the sword. In a fluid movement of near impossible speed Kas snatches the offering of the sword from Selber. He immediately becomes incased in a crackling aura of electric blue power. The drain on the weave can be felt on other worlds across the gulf of space. The battle is joined by two red wizards and the beholder. The devil slowly fades to black, all the while a broad grin on his red face. Kas pauses in his battle with Vecna every now and then to deflect a black beam from the beholder or to swat away a spell from one of the lesser wizards. The priest of belial is on fire and his screams echo about the courtyard as he runs about with no apparent destination. Vecna and Kas are locked in mortal combat the likes of which are rarely witnessed by mortals. During a brutal flurry of blows by Kas, Vecna is forced to attempt to block the blade with his scepter. His ruby scepter explodes in a titanic eruption of magical energies. You are caught up in the blast and you feel the world around you fade away as you are thrown through a tear in the fabric of reality and possibly even time itself. The last thing that registered in your mind as you were ripped from that courtyard was the thousands of black shapes glinting with silver magic that were appearing in the night sky.

The Illithid Conspiracy

Deep beneath the Sea of Falling Stars, south of the shores of the Glimmer Sea, near the Pit of Jhaam in a room of utter darkness lies a briny pool. The pool is not natural. It was made by alien hands and its stone walls are covered with alien glyphs infused with psionic power. Large mauve tadpoles wiggle their way through the black water and the pseudo-pods of a huge brain like entity. Occasionally a pseudo-pod entangles a tadpole and draws it into its self absorbing it utterly. From this alien brain an intense wave of psychic energy is emitted traveling the vast distances of the underdark until it breaks upon the dark pool of another, much larger, elder brain. Within the psychic energies is a message, “It is done. The servants of Vecna have awakened [he who has slumbered] and in the process destroyed Kath-Kanoda.” The larger brain sends a psi wave in reply, “And the Lich Queen?” The small brain says, “She persists. This is not an undesirable outcome. She will surely seek revenge against the Blood Cult and perhaps solve two of our problems. I foresaw this possible outcome as you well know. Things are going exactly as they should.” “Perhaps but I doubt that he will be undone so easily and as long as her phylactery remains intact she will always return. Send three servants to destroy the phylactery before she assaults Thayonestia. If you are successful she will fall. This I have foreseen. Failure will not be tolerated”, replied the big brain.

Dragon Con

All of the good GENCON games are full. Therefore, we are going to DragonCon. You can find info for DragonCon at www.dragoncon.org This Con looks like it is just as big and is only a five hour drive to Atlanta. It takes place in three major hotels and all of the gaming is located in the Hilton. Rooms are only $150 a night (which is very good for the Hilton) and admission is $60 if you register prior to 5/15. It is September 1-4 (Friday-Monday) and anyone who is interested needs to get online and book a room right away. I will have room for one other person in my car if Tamar is not going to go. I have a room with two double beds. It would be nice if we could get one other person and we could book a second room. Right now its Chris, Jon and myself going. Post a reply if you want to go.

No Game On Mothers day

Gregor's Journal

It was a cool spring day. The sun was shining. Birds were singing. Merchants and travelers dotted the ancient cobblestone road leading to the south gate of Silverymoon. We made our way to the city and after a brief encounter with the city guard; peace bound our weapons and entered the city by way of South Gate Road. An unusual sign post stood out amidst the myriad of shops, inns and taverns. The sign was animated and enticed us to enter the Magic Mushroom magic shop. We soon realized that that we were duped by the sign and couldn’t afford the wondrous wares that were for sale. On the verge of leaving, Falford, the person working at the Mushroom, offered us a job investigating a secret staircase that was uncovered during some recent renovation work.
Following the ancient stairwell down we discovered an ancient temple dedicated to some lost or forgotten god. It was disused and abandoned by all but some ancient and long dead skeletal warriors and a horrible monster comprised solely of clear jelly. Moving deeper into the lost temple we came to some ancient burial sepulchers and fought more undead temple guardians. In the next room was a magical pool that promised riches and bestowed only death in the form of a water monster. Two statues in the room provided us with a key to gain the riches in the form of a riddle. We eventually guessed the riddle and gained a wish from an entity in the pool. We wished for our next slain party member to be brought back to life and the wait proved to be brief. Continuing on through the dusty halls of the ancient temple we came to another room of earthenware pots containing ashes and in one case a gleaming golden medallion on a gold chain. This vile device dominated the will of one of our own, promptly strangling the life from the poor man. Through the next door we discovered a demonic fountain spewing forth clear blue water that will surely spell our doom. After running afoul of many things thus far we decided to give the evil looking fountain a wide berth. A door in this chamber lead to another spiral staircase with hints of what lies below from the cool damp air that rushes into the room as the door is opened. We are preparing to descend the second staircase just now, so, I must go. May the Gods be with us.

The Orb Lords

The Orb Lords, as they have come to be remembered, were a cadre of wizards that ruled the lands north of present day Waterdeep from what is now known as the city of glass. The Orb Lords ruled from a palace created entirely of glass and there were many tall towers rumored to be purely constructed from glass blocks. The city was called Haelabelee (Hay Lay ‘Bee Lee) and is one of the seventeen wonders of the ancient world. Rumors impossible to substantiate abound about the ancient city but it must have surely been a breathtaking sight. The lords created a great many magical orbs and thus earned their place in history. It is said that every single magical orb in existence today was created during the three hundred year reign of the Cadre of Nine, as they were known at that time. One thing is known for certain and that is that Humathax, the betrayer created the Dragon Orbs including the Orb of the Eternal Dragon. It is said that Tiamat sent a great flock of elder dragons to lay waste to Haelabelee and destroy the dragon orbs. Another account places Humathax in league with Tiamat and attributes what came to be know as The Flight of Dragons to the abominable union. The Orb of Storms, the Black Orb of Untog and the Spheres of Annihilation are also attributed to the Nine. One thing is certain and that is that a great many orbs were created and a great many survive to this day. Their powers are myriad, in some cases many copies of the same orb were created and in other cases the orbs powers are unique.

Obscure Items of the Art, Vol.1

Articles and statistics on obscure and unique items of the magical arts by none other than the enigmatic Magic Mouth Man.

Weapon of the Gargoyle
The weapon is called thus because when not in use it takes the form of a gargoyle six inches in height. The gargoyle will perch upon the shoulder of its chosen warrior. The gargoyle will sometimes fly about and perform tasks whose designs are known only to the gargoyle. It will never perform any tasks for the wielder other than those written below. The gargoyle is carved from alabaster and is a work of the utmost craftsmanship. Once the gargoyle chooses its weilder it will form a permanent bond and through telepathy determine its weapon type.

Special Powers
Telepathy, Know Alignment, When placed in alert mode the sword will glow blue when enemies come within one hundred feet of the wielder.

LEVEL OF POWER
The level of the weilder determins the positive charge of the weapon. As the weilder increases in power, so does the weapon.

Level of Weilder 1-4 = +1, 5-7= +2, 8-10= +3, 11-13= +4, 14-16= +5, 17+ = +6.

LEVEL +1: No Additional powers.
LEVEL +2: The weapon automatically criticals on a roll indicating a critical hit threat. No additional hit confirmation roll is required.
LEVEL +3: The weapon becomes virtually indestructable (only fails on a roll of 1) and will teleport itself away from magic dead zones. There is a 50% chance that it will bring the weilder along.
LEVEL +4: One fourth of all damage dealt with the weapon is applied to the weilder in the form of healing up to a maximum of twenty points per round.
LEVEL +5: The weapon generates a five foot radius field of power that has a 20% chance of reflecting all magic back to the caster. Area effect spells are not reflected but cause no harm within the radius if the 20% roll is made.
LEVEL +6: Beings struck by the sword must make a fortitude save DC 25 or be afflicted with a Harm spell at castor level 20. Beings with spell resistance will have it reduced by five points with regards to checks made against the magic of the sword.

The Moon Doors of Silverymoon

As humans measure such things, Silverymoon is a surprisingly old city. In its oldest parts (those Northbank streets just west of the Market, and closest to the river), some of the more humble buildings have stood more or less unchanged for almost six centuries -- whereas grander structures are either newer or much added to or rebuilt from their original forms. Most of "old Silverymoon" contained stout log buildings, chinked with mud and banked earth, that had grassed-over roofs. Later, permanent structures of stone replaced the log buildings, and they shared some common features: no windows or only shuttered tall-and-narrow "arrowslit" windows on the windward sides (north and northwest), plus elevated (against snowdrifts in winter) entry doors on south walls as much as possible. One entered up outside stairs that climbed those south walls from the east, into a "snow shield" shoulder-wall on the west that jutted out from the building like a buttress to give some protection against the steps icing, or bitter winds blowing in when the door was being used. Walls were thick, sometimes with an inner and an outer wall with the space between filled with rubble, and roofs were of slate-shingle or tile, steeply pitched to shed snow. Vertical ribs or fins jutting up from the plane of the roof often adorned them (as they do today) so that snow and ice were broken into narrow "chutes" when they fell, rather than huge roof-width masses that can stun or slay beings caught beneath.More modern buildings in Silverymoon often have smooth, undulating roofs that form drain channels and try to sculpt the passing winds, but among the three-story and smaller surviving buildings of old Silverymoon (usually rectangular structures that house shops at street level, with goods cellars below, and one or two floors of living apartments above) are many that share an architectural feature once very popular in the city of Silverymoon: "moon doors."Who bestowed their local name on these miniature doors is anyone's guess, but it's obviously derived from the moon which features so prominently in the city's name and legends. Moon doors have nothing directly to do with moonlight, but they could see quite a lot of use by night; they are hatches or "cat doors" set inside larger, regular (human-sized) doors -- in other words, "a door within a door."Moon doors are obviously a risk to the security of occupants and foods within a house, particularly if they lack the latches or locks common to larger doors -- and in older, more lawless times, this risk might well have been larger than it is today. Yet almost all noncivic or nonreligious buildings in the Gem of the North once boasted moon doors -- and these often possessed ornate rather than discreet features.Moon doors were used for what are still called "drops" in Silverymoon today (deliveries of packages, written messages [including payments, bills, and civic notices], and even fresh milk) as well as pet traffic. Inevitably, as time passed, such "pets" included unwelcome intruding creatures trained and sent by spies and thieves. With the prevalence of both magic and large, beautiful glass windows in the Gem of the North today, forcible entries of small creatures are both possible and more likely than in the smaller, more wary Silverymoon of old. However, the moon door has fallen out of fashion with modern builders, who are more apt to hide a completely separate hatch or mini-door behind entrance-flanking sculpted beasts or pillars, or between columns that protrude from (but aren't separate from) a wall, rather than cutting a small door right through the material of a larger door.Often, illusion spells or clever relief carvings hide moon doors that do exist in recently built structures of Silverymoon, and the doors also likely permit entrance not right into the interior, but into a stone-lined storage cavity that has a second (stoutly locked and bolted or barred) interior door, plus a glass- or mica-covered spyhole, connecting to the inside of the building. Thus, things that come through the door can be examined before admitting them wholly. Also, at the very least, someone can't use a moon door to fire an arrow or crossbow bolt right into the body of someone just inside the door (the old "knock and fire" attack).

The Cavernous Lake Set Sneak Peek

A first look at the up coming (August, I think) cavernous lake set from DF. I am stoked about the cavernous rivers but this looks incredible. Guess I will have to get a couple of these sets as well. www.dwarvenforge.com/catalogpages/cavernous-water-dragon.gif

The Good Party Begins 4/30

Due to numerous requests we will start the new party earlier than I had planned. The new party begins on Sunday 4/30. As previously stated the party’s base of operations will be Silverymoon which lies north east of Waterdeep near the Spine of the World Mountains. Please design your character history to accommodate this fact. The following is a list of the players and their character choices that I remember.

Billy- Monk
Chris- Cleric
Jon- Fighter or Paladin
Sean- Rogue or Ranger
Dewey- Rogue or Sorcerer
James- ?
John- ?

Ideally Sean and James would pick either Ranger or Rogue and Dewey would be a Sorcerer or Wizard. This would give us no doubled up classes and a really good mix. John if you decide to play why not try a Druid? Dewey as the lone Arcane caster you would really need to spend some time reading the Arcane spells as you would have the ability to solve a lot of problems with your spells. These are just suggestions. I want everyone to play a character that makes them happy.

Please have your characters generated with etools. If you do not have etools then get with me prior to the 30th. Those of you who do not want to use etools are free to copy the etools generated character onto any other medium but I want the initial character generation to be in etools. When you print your character there is an option called dm.xls that I want you to print and bring with you. The character generation method is as follows. Click the “Stats” button on the top left. This brings up a new menu. Choose “Non Standard Point buy" from the “Method” drop down menu. Choose “Tougher” from the “Campaign” drop down menu. Spend your points wherever you like. You will start with Maximum hit points at first level. etools will automatically generate your gold and purchase equipment. Feel free to sell off any or all of the computer purchases and buy whatever you need from the mundane equipment lists though you cannot spend more than the computer generated amount of starting gold. If anyone needs help with etools just give me a call.

Game Sunday 4/23

Apocalypse and Oblivion Wants You!

If you are interested in a third edition Dungeons and Dragons game drop me an Email. We are a group of adult gamers that play every Sunday evening from 5:30pm until around midnight. I have been DM'ing Dungeons and Dragons since the early eighties. We use miniatures and I have a large collection of www.dwarvenforge.com terrain so all dungeon settings are 3D. Interested parties should be able to attend most game days. I am not looking for any particular experience level of gamer and would be happy to teach you how to play. Join us!

We are playing Easter Sunday 4/16 @5:30 if we can get enough players. We need at least 4 players. Please post a comment if you can come.

We need another player or two. If you know someone who is interested feel free to bring them. Generate their character prior to game time.

Game on April 9th, Sunday.

Game on April 9th, Sunday at 5:30. We are closer to getting started at 5:30 with three actual players showing up on time. Perhaps one day…

At several players request I am asking nicely that anyone tempted to argue with myself or another player to refrain. I received three complaints about a player or players being disruptive. I agreed with them and as I consider all of the players my friends I would like for there to be harmony. Please be considerate of the feelings of others. It is not fun listening to pointless arguments and bickering while you could be playing.

At the request of others I ask that you reconsider your method for distributing treasure. People have lives and some people are not able to attend every day. Everyone should get a fair share of the treasure for which they adventured. If we could start playing at 5:30 we could actually stop at 11:00 and distribute prior to everyone’s departure. Alternately we could phone players unable to attend the following game.  Or you guys can come up with another solution. The bottom line is that the current method is unfair.

Sunday Game

We are playing this Sunday at 5:30pm. See ya there. Now that David has departed we have an opening for another player.

It looks like the majority of players are interested in playing good characters in the new campaign that will be beginning soon. Everyone should be thinking about what they want to be. The campaign will take place in the Silver Marches which is north and east of Waterdeep near the Spine of the World mountains. The party will be based out of Silvery Moon where they can win fame and fortune defending the city against the ever aggressive Mountain Orc nations. Please discuss with the others your character class so that we can have a good mix. We will begin the new campaign most likely in the latter part of April when my current, short term, plans for the Thayonestia party are complete.

Someone Volunteer, Please

I need a volunteer to email me a play by play style synopsis of each weeks adventure. I will post it here for those people who missed the game. In order to volunteer you must commit to having it written and emailed to me no later than the Tuesday following the game. You must be able to write in complete sentences, spell and have a little skill in writing. It does me no good if I have to edit and rewrite what you send me. I think this would be a really nice addition to the blog and it would be nice if one of you players would step up. If you write really well (no editing required on my part) I will grant you posting access to the blog in order to skip the email and middle man (me).

New Dwarven Forge!

My two cavern sets came in while I was away. They look incredible. I can't wait to add a cavern setting to the dungeon. Now we have to wait until June 1st for the cavernous rivers set followed by the cavernous lake set. I will likely have two sets of each pre ordered. Woot!

Game Sunday 3/26

We are on for this Sunday at 5:30. I will have everything set up and ready to go at 5:30. I hope everyone shows up on time or early as there are alot of magic items to allocate out to players. Additionally we will need to role play the repurchase of single use magic items. On that note please have your single use items converted back into gold prior to game time. I hope to see everyone on Sunday.

Purchase of Magic Items

The practice of purchasing one use magic items such as scrolls and potions will no longer be done outside of the game. We will roll play the purchase of all magic items from this point forward. All one use magic items purchased prior to today revert back to their standard gold piece value. You can purchase replacements for some of them this Sunday. You retain all one use magic items found during the course of an adventure. This practice was due to my laziness and resulted in serious game imbalance. I apologize for any heartburn that you might suffer due to this new policy but I am only human and sometimes make mistakes.

New Party

Now that the party is nearing that milestone where their levels and powers begin to tax my intellect it will soon be time to create another party. Over the next few months when people start to hit the high teens it will be more difficult to write for them and the adventures and battles will take considerably longer. You all caught a glimpse of this last night when it took all night for three rooms and one battle took two hours. It is this time when I like to start a new party which will allow me to swap back and forth between campaigns. The lower level people are very easy to accommodate and give me a break from the mental rigors of running a high level campaign. I have been doing things this way for twenty years.
I want everyone to start thinking about what they want to be in the new party. I have also been thinking about a good party based out of Silvery Moon in the savage north. Switching back and forth between good and evil provides a nice change of pace. Though I suggest a good party I am going to leave it up to you. If everyone wants two evil parties then I may go with an under dark campaign. I know that some of you are very attached to your current characters and may not want to make a new party but I assure you that the new characters soon become just as much fun. In the past I have had gaming groups with as many as three sets of characters in three different campaigns.

Gen Con 2006

I am going to http://www.gencon.com this year and it would be really cool if some of you could come. In order to get rooms in the same hotel and get into some of the cool http://www.truedungeon.com/true/dungeon.html events we need to sign up now. GenCon is the largest and by far the coolest D&D convention. It is in August so that gives everyone plenty of time to plan and save up money. The 4 day con only costs $65 bucks but hotel and travel will be a chunk of change. Air travel is not as costly as it once was though. I am flying to Philadelphia next week and my tickets were $230. Post a comment if you want to go.

The invasion of Aglarond has begun.

February 11th -4782 DR, in what will become known as the year of the bloody sword, the armies of Thayonestia crossed the border into Aglarond. A small border outpost was destroyed though not before word of the invasion was magically transmitted to the warlord Humutoth. The Symbul, Arch-mage and queen of Aglarond, will meet the armies of the red wizards in what will surely be a titanic clash of men and magic.

Game Sunday 1/22

We are playing Sunday, 1/22 at 5:30pm.

I thought the Dwarven Forge stuff kicked ass. I ordered more$$
Wish they had more stuff in stock.
:(

Friday, January 13, 2006

The Dwarven Forge items arrived.

I am extreemly pleased with the Dwarven Forge dungeon pieces. The detail and quality are excellent. I think I would prefer not to have the connectors but it is a minor drawback. Unfortunately Dwarven Forge is out of stock on most of their items so we will have to wait for them to restock before I can get the pieces I need. I think I have enough for us to play with but we will have to determine this on Sunday.

Next Game is Sunday 1-15-06

We are playing this Sunday 1-15-06 at 5:30 pm. If you are bringing someone use the character generator I provided to you to generate a character prior to Sunday. Their character can be 10th level but with ZERO experience points. The starting level is necessary to give them a chance of survival. I will provide them with three starting magic items when they arrive.
