The Orb Lords, as they are called by the common folk, are a cadre of wizards that
rule the lands far to the south from Haela-Belee, the city
of glass. The Orb Lords held court in a palace created entirely of glass steel. It
is said that there are many tall towers purely constructed from glass steel as
well. The city is one of the nine remaining of the
seventeen wonders of the ancient world. Haela-Belee sits atop a three kilometer hill surrounded by grasslands, farms and the river Beh-Laa. At sunrise the city seems to glow atop the hill like the fire atop a candle.
The lords have created a great many magical orbs and thus earned their place in
history. It is said that every single magical orb in existence today was created
by the Cadre of Nine. The Orb of Storms, the Black Orb of Untog and the Spheres of
Annihilation are also attributed to the Nine. One thing is certain and that is
that a great many orbs have been created and a great many survive to this day. Their
powers are myriad, in some cases many copies of the same orb are created and in
other cases the orbs powers are unique.
The lands of the nine are a beacon of civilization from the old times before the apocalyptic wars that destroyed much of what was. Wizard kings unleased godlike magics and demonologists summoned hords of demons from the abyss.
